ABOUT THE AUTHOR

It's intriguing how some memories have a way of anchoring themselves in our minds while others merely pass through. For instance, I vividly remember my first academic recognition in grade school: winning the title of the best creative writer across four grades. This memory lingered because my focus had typically been on sporting achievements. Over the years, writing became my escape, my sanctuary, a freeing of the mind. Whether that was a journal by the bed or a collaboration on paper.

Life is broken down into a series of events, milestones, traumas, joyful memories, and tender moments. My writing mirrors each and every emotion I've felt, touched, seen, or heard. For this reason, I invest my heart and soul into developing characters that also make you feel. A story that dominates the mind while weaving through twists, turns, intimacies, triumphs, and broken pieces. My aim is for my readers to experience more than just a story; I want them to embark on a journey through relatable moments.

The recent chapters of my life define me as a mother, wife, boss, wellness advocate, realtor, business owner, sister, and daughter. My next venture is one I approach with passion: an author. I am both grateful and humbled by the continuous support and inspiration from my family and friends on this vibrant path of self-discovery. I hope readers find as much joy in reading "A Better Tomorrow" as I did in writing it. Welcome to my story.

BOOK OVERVIEW

To be a prisoner of your own mind is a scary place to be.

The complexities of a woman are far more diverse than any study could ever reveal. No matter their genetic background, no two women are truly the same. Our minds are marked by different traumas, our hearts have endured distinct forms of breakage, our bones haven't been bruised the same, and our paths to healing are as individual as we are.

"A Better Tomorrow" narrates just that - the lives of two different women, whose experiences are worlds apart. Charlotte Livingston, known as Charlie, is a formidable presence with whom you feel a strong bond, even as her flawed choices unfold. She was inspired early in life by her father's oath to serve and protect the streets they lived on. Following his death, she vowed to continue his legacy.

Charlie's career began in blue with deep aspirations to make a difference. Then, her law career transitioned to a crisis management firm aimed at helping others. Shady government officials, lies under oath, a brutal kidnapping, domestic abuse, and cheating spouses find her struggling to reconcile the life she leads with the one she once envisioned. Against love, loss, and shifting loyalties, she becomes a one-woman wrecking show that stomps all over her own morals. When her world spirals into chaos, one particular case threatens to radically shift her path, potentially ending her career, or worse, her life.

Olivia McGuire's story is one of earnest ambition. Driven by a lifelong passion for journalism, she aims to reveal people's true identities to the very people watching. However, as she pursues this goal, she struggles with her own identity. Initially a quiet shell, Olivia's life changes when her sister encourages her to take a risk with a man named Peter, a fellow college graduate. As Olivia embarks on a new journey, she risks finding herself, but her new love interest harbors his own secrets. When faced with a critical discovery, diving in too deep leaves her captive in a real-life hell-on-earth. The story demands to be told, but the question arises: will she be the one to tell it?

To understand a person, it is important to know not just where they are going, but also to acknowledge where they have been. Does one's past shape their future? As the story unfolds, will worlds collide before it's too late, or will fate rewrite their story? To be a prisoner of your own mind is a scary place to be.
